9 firms vie for $50M in Navy research tasks

General Dynamics Information Technology, Science Applications International Corp. and seven other contractors have each been awarded an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity Navy task order contract that has a combined value of $49.9 million.
The task orders call for providing the Naval Health Research Center and other facilities with services in support of experimental design, protocol development, data entry, statistical analysis, scientific literature review for research projects, a variety of diagnostic and experimental tests, and ongoing and future research projects, according to a Dec. 9 Defense Department announcement.
The other seven contractors are:
- The Geneva Foundation
- The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine Inc.
- Lovelace Biomedical and Environmental Research Institute
- The Arora Group Inc.
- CAMRIS International Inc.
- Luke & Associates Inc.
- Clinical Research Management Inc.
All nine contractors will have an opportunity to compete for and propose on each individual task order under the terms and conditions of the awarded contract. All task orders will support research and development efforts being conducted on behalf of the Clinical Investigations Program, the announcement said.
The work, which will be performed at various Navy military treatment and dental treatment facilities throughout the continental United States, is expected to be completed in December 2016.
This contract was solicited using full and open competition, with 10 offers received. The Naval Medical Logistics Command, Fort Detrick, Md., is the contracting activity.
General Dynamics Corp., of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 5.on Washington Technology’s2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors. SAIC, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 6.
