Fired SAIC exec lands post at SRA

Fired Science Applications International Corp. executive Deborah Alderson has quickly landed on her feet.

She was hired this week as executive vice president for strategic development at SRA Intnerational Inc. She will report to SRA President and CEO William Ballhaus.

Alderson was fired in late October from SAIC because the division she ran was involved in a bribery and kickback scandal in New York City. While Alderson, SAIC defense group president, was not involved in the alleged criminal activity, the company cited management failures and the need for a change in terminating Alderson and two other executives that reported to her.

In her new role at SRA, Alderson will provide guidance on new markets and developing large, strategic customer accounts while working across the company’s business groups to support the development and implementation of its corporate strategy, a Nov. 29 SRA statement said.

Alderson brings more than 25 years of experience in the government services business. She has led large organizations focused on technical services, logistics, C4I, systems engineering and integration in support of federal government customers, including the Homeland Security Department and all branches of the Armed Forces. In addition to SAIC, Alderson has held senior positions with Anteon International and General Dynamics Corp.

Alderson holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

She is on the AFCEA board of directors and is active in the Association of the U.S. Army, the Air Force Association and the National Defense Industrial Association.

SRA International, of Fairfax, Va., ranks No. 29 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
