Science Applications International Corp. has received a $25 million order from the Transportation Security Administration that will improve baggage screening capabilities at airports.
Under the terms of the order, the contractor will upgrade TSA’s 210 Reveal Imaging CT-80 systems with next-generation Reveal CT-80DR systems, according to an Oct. 24 SAIC announcement.
The CT-80DR system features proprietary dual-energy computed tomography (CT) X-ray technology that provides enhanced detection and false alarm rate performance at an economical price, the announcement said.
The CT-80DR is based on Reveal's proven CT technology and performance and will provide the TSA with enhanced capabilities in checked baggage screening.
Reveal, a wholly owned subsidiary of SAIC, developed and has deployed hundreds of the smaller explosive detection systems in the United States and internationally.
SAIC Corp., of McLean, Va., ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
