SAIC tasked with improving VA benefits systems

Contract calls for long-term solution engineering and program support

Science Applications International Corp. has won a three-year Navy contract for veterans’ benefits assistance that could be worth more than $24 million if the two-option years are exercised.

The task order from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic calls for SAIC to provide long-term solution engineering and program support for the Veterans Affairs Benefits Integrated Product Team Chapter 33, according to an Oct. 11 announcement from SAIC.

Under the contract, SAIC will provide technical and engineering support, as well as the application development and operational services required to develop, manage and enhance new functionalities for VA benefit systems.

SAIC also will help manage systems engineering and program development processes in accordance with industry best practices.

The task order was awarded under the Army's Information Technology Enterprise Solutions 2 Services (ITES-2S) contract.

SAIC International, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
