Dell hires ex-EDS, Lee Technologies exec for defense job

Dell Inc. has hired George Newstrom as the executive director and general manager for Dell Services Federal Government’s defense and national security business.

Newstrom most recently was president and chief operating officer of Lee Technologies. He was the secretary of technology under then Virginia Gov. Mark Warner. He also had a 28-year career at EDS, leading at various times EDS' health care and government sectors. His last position was as corporate senior vice president and president of EDS Asia Pacific.

The job at Dell is a new position. Newstrom will report to Richard Pineda, president of Dell Services Federal Government.

Today is his first day on the job, Pineda told Washington Technology.
