CGI takes North Carolina county into the cloud

The region of Wake County, N.C., will transition to built-for-government ERP solution

CGI Group Inc. has won a 12-year contract worth $30.5 million to replace a North Carolina county’s enterprise resource planning system with a cloud-based system operated at CGI’s secure data center.

A CGI client since 2005, Wake County, N.C. will transition to the company’s AMS Advantage cloud and continue to utilize the full suite of its built-for-government AMS Advantage ERP solution, according to a company announcement.

Under the new contract, CGI will host the system and securely manage day-to-day operations under its Managed Advantage program, which includes application maintenance, technical upgrades, disaster recovery services, and client support.

As a result, the county will benefit from a single point of accountability for software, services, and hosting as well as a predictable cost over the contract term for product upgrades, infrastructure, and maintenance, the announcement said.

CGI Group Inc., of Montreal, Que., ranks No. 44 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
