Avineon adds marketing, planning pro to lead fed biz operations

Government contractor Avineon Inc. has hired James Smith as senior vice president for federal business development.

He will lead the business development team in tailoring technical solutions to better serve federal civilian, defense and homeland security agencies, the company said in an announcement Sept. 13.

Smith has more than 20 years of experience in marketing, sales and strategic planning with a focus on federal government programs. His background includes IT support services, including cybersecurity, telecommunications, software development, and facilities and program management.

Avineon, of Alexandria, Va., also has offices in Florida, Canada, Europe and India.
