SAIC provides mission-critical IT to Special Ops Command

Task order calls for work in Hawaii and Philippines

Science Applications International Corp. will provide mission-critical IT to the Defense Department under a five-year contract that has a ceiling value of more than $35 million if all options are exercised, the company announced Sept. 8 in a news release.

The U.S. Special Operations Command task order calls for SAIC to provide mission-critical IT services to support the command, control, communications and computer mission needs of the Special Operations Command, Pacific and the Joint Special Operations Task Force, Philippines.

SAIC also will provide network and desktop support for special operations units in Hawaii and other deployed locations.

The work will be performed primarily in Hawaii and the Philippines.

The task order was awarded under the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contracts Specialty Services contracting vehicle.

SAIC, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
