CACI, 2 small firms will strengthen IT at DOD intell center

Contract calls for NASIC technical, engineering and analysis support

CACI International Inc. and two smaller contractors have won prime positions on a five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity Defense Department signals intelligence (SIGINT) contract with a potential value of $40 million.

As a result, CACI will work with N-Ask Inc., a Fairfax, Va., provider of software solutions and algorithm development, and BIT Systems Inc., an engineering firm in Sterling, Va.

Together they will support the National Air and Space Intelligence Center’s (NASIC) Signals Intelligence Engineering Support Services II (SESS II) initiative for enhanced analysis and IT capabilities, according to a Sept. 2 CACI announcement.

CACI specifically will provide technical, engineering and analysis support in the areas of technical SIGINT – including technical electronic intelligence, and command, control, and communications data links – and analysis infrastructure.

NASIC is the primary DOD source to assess foreign air and space threats. The Center performs SIGINT activities to support operational forces, defense acquisition efforts and national policy and decision makers, the announcement said.

The work will take place at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, according to General Service’s Administration FedBiz Opps website.

CACI International, of Arlington, Va., ranks No. 14 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
