CSC's 2 contracts will deliver logistics support to USPS

Pair of awards has estimated combined value of $83 million

Computer Sciences Corp. has won a pair of contracts from the U.S. Postal Service for management, operational and logistical support. The seven-year contracts have an estimated combined value of $83 million.

The contracts cover USPS Mail Transport Equipment Service Centers (MTESCs) in Lakeville, Minn., and Barrington, N.J. As a result, CSC will now operate nine of the 15 centers in the United States, the company said Aug. 30 in a statement.

Under the terms of the contracts, CSC will provide program management, information systems support and logistical services.

Company employees will receive, examine, route, repair, recycle or dispose of mail transport equipment. They will also work to continuously improve equipment processing, repair and distribution functions, the announcement states.

The MTESCs are an integrated network of 15 facilities for managing the mail transport equipment inventory, overseeing repair, storage and distribution to internal and external customers. Mail transport equipment includes sacks, trays, pallets and wheeled containers that contain mail as it moves within or between facilities.

CSC has provided management and logistical support for MTESCs across the United States since 1999.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 11 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
