Honeywell promotes from within for new CIO

Executive previously was CIO of company unit

Honeywell International Inc. has named Mike Lang vice president and CIO, effective immediately. He succeeds Bask Iyer, who is leaving the company to pursue other career opportunities, according to a company announcement.

Lang, who most recently served as vice president and CIO of Honeywell's Automation and Control Solutions business, will report to Chairman and CEO Dave Cote and will be based in Morris Township, N.J.

In his new role, Lang will be responsible for deploying new technology and the core tools necessary to drive Honeywell's businesses and strengthen IT's role as a critical business partner throughout the company, the announcement said.

Lang's role includes increasing productivity and improving the effectiveness of Honeywell's IT, while safeguarding the company's critical information, intellectual property and physical resources.

He also will lead the Honeywell IT Council, which sets the direction and focus for the function.

Before joining Honeywell, Lang served in a variety of leadership positions at General Electric, most recently as global CTO for GE's Insurance Solutions business.

He also worked worked at Diebold Inc. and the Westfield Companies.

Honeywell, of Morris Township, N.J., ranks No. 26 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
