SAIC green lights freight traffic for FHA, DOT

$19M award calls for technical, programmatic support

Science Applications International Corp. will assist the Federal Highway Administration move freight traffic safely and rapidly as the result of a five-year prime contract that has a ceiling value for SAIC of more than $19 million, if all options are exercised.

Under the multiple award contract, SAIC specifically will provide technical and programmatic services to support the Office of Freight Management and Operations and the Transportation Department.

The contractor also will support the international transportation system, which promotes economic growth and development, according to a June 15 SAIC announcement.

The Office of Freight Management and Operations promotes efficient, seamless and secure freight flow in the U.S. transportation system and across U.S. borders.

As one of seven contractors on the contract, SAIC also will compete for future task orders.

SAIC, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.

Since I work at the Federal Highway Administration, I can tell you that it is known by the acronym "FHWA".
