GTSI wins $450M to bring the FAA better IT

Contract calls for helping agency improve its financial management programs

GTSI Corp. will provide cost-saving IT services to the Federal Aviation Administration under a five-year contract that could be worth as much as $425 million if all options are exercised.

The FAA made the fixed price, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity award under the Strategic Acquisition of Various Equipment and Supplies (SAVES) program, part of the agency's strategy to improve financial management while delivering quality customer service, the contractor announced in a recent news release.

Under the contract, GTSI will help the FAA comply with the SAVES program's mandates for cost effectiveness by delivering mission-critical technology in an efficient and expeditious manner.

Sterling Phillips, GTSI's chief executive officer, said the company has been working with the FAA under the SAVES program since 2006, when it won a $63 million contract for IT peripherals.

GTSI Corp., of Herndon, Va., ranks No. 68 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
