CGI Federal Inc. has won a five-year contract worth $5.7 million to upgrade the health information exchange program at the Health and Human Services Department.
The Federal Health Architecture initiative, managed by HHS’ Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, made the award, CGI Federal said in its May 24 announcement.
The contract, which includes four one-year options, will support FHA's Connect Nationwide Health Information Exchange Gateway Solution.

Under the terms of the award, CGI will partner with FHA and strategic partners, such as Red Hat, to build and develop Connect into a robust open-source solution that supports secure, standards-based health information exchange and "meaningful use" of health information technology.
