QinetiQ North America has new business development chief

Senior VP comes over from Global Crossing

John Sutton has been named senior vice president of business development at QinetiQ North America. In this role, Sutton will be responsible for the company's strategy for winning new business.

Sutton joins QinetiQ NA from Global Crossing, where he was executive vice president and general manager of the federal sector, according to a May 11 company announcement.

Prior to joining Global Crossing, he spent six years as senior vice president of ManTech International's Defense & Intelligence Business Unit, where he led the strategic planning, execution, growth and diversification of its business portfolio.

Sutton, a former member of the Merchant Marine, holds a master's degree from George Mason University’s School of Management and a bachelor's degree in marine transportation from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

QinetiQ North America Inc., of McLean, Va., ranks No. 40 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
