Booz Allen Hamilton will help the Federal Highway Administration enhance intelligent transportation systems under a five-year, $114 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract.

Intelligent transportation systems allow vehicles, infrastructure and passengers’ personal communications devices to communicate with one another, according to a Feb. 28 company announcement.

The IDIQ award will support the highway administration’s Research and Innovation Technology Administration Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office.

The office is charged with building a national, multi-modal surface transportation system featuring a connected communications environment.

Under the terms of the contract, Booz Allen will supply a broad range of technical support services to the ITS Joint Program Office that could include project planning, modeling, and simulation activities.

Other services include technical project management; systems engineering and integration; business model development; technology recommendations; scope of work development; procurement, deployment, and integration support; and program evaluation.

Booz Allen has a strong history of supporting Transportation Department initiatives that include vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications, the Federal Aviation Administration's NextGen, high-speed rail and positive train control.
