NCI supports Air Force wireless network expansion
Netcents contract will boost Second Generation Wireless Local Area Network
NCI will help the Air Force upgrade its wireless network program under a NetCents contract worth approximately $17.3 million.
This single-award, competitive-delivery order, which represents new work for NCI, provides Information Transport System Increment 2, Second Generation Wireless Local Area Network (2GWLAN) support for the Air Force Electronic Systems Squadron, according to a company statement released today.
The 2GWLAN is part of the Combat Information Transport System customers’ initiative for communications and information infrastructure modernization, NCI said.
Under the program, NCI and its team member, LTI DataComm, will upgrade 18 U.S. Air Force installations with a scalable classified and unclassified wireless local-area network.
Services include installation, test and turn-over support at each Integrated Network Operation and Security Center to ensure that seamless, scalable, centralized management continues as additional base 2GWLAN systems become operational.
NCI Information Systems Inc., of Reston, Va., ranks No. 71 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
