Computer Sciences Corp. has been awarded a five-year task order under the General Services Administration’s Schedule 70 contract to provide IT services to the Veteran Affairs Department.

The task order has the estimated total value to $33 million, according to a company announcement today.

Under the terms of the agreement, CSC and its subcontractor, Helpdesk Response Inc., will provide IT and software development services to the VA’s Financial Services Center.

CSC will analyze, develop, test, implement and maintain the software for the center, which provides financial and accounting products and services to the VA and other government agencies.

The software development work will enable the VA to reduce product development cycles, bring new applications online quickly and migrate smoothly to an optimized and cost effective environment, Mike Gaffney, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector Civil and Health Services Group, said in the statement.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 10 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
