CACI automates Uncle Sam’s ‘I Want You’ enlistment process

Contract calls for assisting DOD's Virtual Interactive Processing System

CACI International Inc. has been awarded a $75 million Defense Department contract to assist in processing applicants wishing to join the Armed Forces.

The company will support the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command’s Virtual Interactive Processing System (VIPS) in work to streamline its accession process for military applicants, the contractor said today in a statement.

The Military Entrance Processing Command is a joint military and civilian organization based in Illinois that operates 65 military entrance processing stations.

One of the most advanced, service-oriented, open architecture-based systems in the federal government, the VIPS will modernize and automate the infrastructure used to qualify, evaluate and process applicants for the uniformed services, Coast Guard and National Guard, the company statement said.

Once implemented, the VIPS paper-free system will make recruiting processes more responsive, flexible and efficient, and ultimately will reduce the cycle time to induct enlistees saving millions of dollars annually.

As an enterprise system, VIPS will interface with the core recruiting systems of each military service. Its modular open systems integration approach and extensive use of biometric components will enable deployment of rapid operational capabilities with near-term benefits, CACI said.

The three-and-a-half year award from the DOD’s Business Transformation Agency represents new work for CACI, the contractor said.

CACI International Inc., of Arlington, Va., ranks No. 16 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
