Accenture will keep Navy mission-critical systems shipshape

New contract calls for hardware and software maintenance services

Accenture has won a five-year, $6.3 million contract to provide hardware and software maintenance to the Navy.

Under terms of the award, Accenture will assist the Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command’s efforts to modernize its ships with mission-critical systems.

The Spawar Integrated Data Environment and Repository (SPIDER) contract was awarded under the Navy’s SeaPort-e contracting vehicle.

Under SPIDER, Accenture will deliver engineering services necessary to maintain, modify, deploy and sustain all SPIDER systems.

“These services are designed to enable Spawar to more effectively plan, manage and execute the installation of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance equipment aboard U.S. Navy ships and shore facilities,” Vince Vlasho, Accenture senior executive and U.S. Navy account lead, said in an announcement today.

Accenture’s SPIDER services will help Spawar correlate logistics requirements and evaluate the information technology infrastructure of various ships to determine the most efficient and cost-effective means of delivering C4ISR equipment, the announcement states.

Accenture also will enhance the database architecture and provide customer and user training as well as program support.

The work will be performed in San Diego.

Accenture PLC, of Dublin, ranks No. 27 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
