Contracting trio to vie for $565m in MDA task orders

CSC, GDIT, Sparta named to IDIQ contract

Computer Sciences Corp. is one of three companies named to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) infrastructure and deployment services contract, a five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity award with a cumulative value of $565 million.

Under the terms of the contract, CSC will compete with General Dynamics Information Technology and Sparta, of Lake Forest, Calif., for task orders to provide advisory and assistance services to the MDA’s Military Construction and Environmental Management Office, Worldwide Deployment Program Office, Combatant Commands, and Wargames Exercises and Operations Office.

Work under these contracts will be performed in Huntsville, Ala.; Colorado Springs, Colo.; the National Capital Region; and other MDA locations, according to a CSC announcement.

The contract falls under the MDA Engineering and Support Services Initiative, which aims to consolidate resources, enhance the sharing of expertise and knowledge, centralize the acquisition of support services manpower more efficiently and reduce overhead costs.

In addition to this agency infrastructure and deployment services contract, CSC also recently won an IDIQ contract for MDA operations support.

“CSC has supported the Missile Defense Agency and its predecessor organizations, the Strategic Defense Initiative Organization and the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization for more than 25 years,” said Austin Yerks, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector Defense Group. “We look forward to continuing our successful relationship and delivering significant operational results that support MDA’s goals.”

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 10 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors. General Dynamics, also of Falls Church, ranks No. 6 on the list.
