Alion continues pollutant research assistance at EPA
Five-year task order could be worth as much as $72 million

Alion Science and Technology Corp. will continue supporting Environmental Protection Agency research under a five-year task order that could be worth as much as $72 million.
The EPA award calls for Alion to continue assisting in assessing exposure to atmospheric pollutants and other materials that have the potential to cause adverse human health effects, according to a company statement today.
Under the contract, Alion will develop and support human exposure models and support research in aerosol and human exposure studies.
Pollutants and other compounds will be sampled and analyzed in air, water, food, dust, soil and biological media, and tracked through inhalation, dermal exposure and ingestion.
Alion supports EPA’s Office of Research and Development by assisting in research that characterizes human pollutant exposures across a broad spectrum. Results will be applied to practical efforts related to air quality measurement, pollution control and homeland security, the statement said.
Subcontractors include RTI International, the McConnell Group and Alpha-Gamma Technologies.
Alion Science and Technology, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 41 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
