Harris elevates IT services chief to CIO

Ted Hengst has been named corporate vice president and chief information officer at Harris Corp., reporting to Howard Lance, the company's chairman, president and CEO.

Hengst has served as president of Harris IT Services since joining the international communications and information technology company in December 2006.

In his role as CIO, Hengst will be responsible for setting the strategic direction, architecture and governance of Harris’ global IT enterprise to drive innovation and fuel growth for the company and its clients through the use of information technology, according to a company announcement released today.

Before joining Harris, Hengst served as a senior vice president at General Dynamics Corp. after retiring as an Army colonel.

Hengst earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a master’s degree in management information systems from the Naval Postgraduate School.
