BAE wins $31M option for Navy communications

Contractor will service facilities from Maryland to California

BAE Systems Technology Solutions & Services Inc. will provide a broad range of technology services to the Navy under a modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee contract worth almost $31 million.

The exercised option calls for BAE Systems to assist the Special Communications Requirements Division of the Naval Air Warfare Center’s Aircraft Division, according to a July 12 Defense Department announcement.

The contractor will provide supplies and technical services for designing, developing, testing, installing and repairing new and/or existing communication-electronic platforms, equipment, systems and subsystems.

The estimated level of effort for the work is 359,000 man-hours and is expected to be completed in July 2011.

Work will be performed in California, Md., Chesapeake, Va., San Diego, Spring Lake, N.C., and Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Saint Inigoes, Md., is the contracting activity.

BAE Systems Inc., of Rockville, Md., ranks No. 15 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
