Dell's new health practice will administer to states

Dell State Health Services practice to be led by former Mass. insurance plan official

Dell Services has launched a new practice area to help states address the federal regulatory requirements of health care reform, ways of implementing them and the technology needed to succeed.

The Dell State Health Services practice will be led by Melissa Boudreault, who previously served as director of the Massachusetts Commonwealth Care Health Plan, an insurance exchange program, according to a company announcement today.

The State Health Services practice will provide states and other entities with technology consulting services regarding various insurance exchange models and how best to manage the new Medicaid responsibilities and mandates.

Boudreault also will lead the State Health Services’ operations team, which will assist states in addressing increased demand as more constituents are enrolled in Medicaid and as states establish other health care programs such as health insurance exchanges, health information exchanges, cooperative insurance organizations and consumer-related portals.

Dell will provide services including:

  • Medicaid expansion preparation.
  • IT infrastructure modernization, process improvement and business process solutions.
  • Technology optimization, billing and enrollment solutions, and call center operations.
  • Integrated health management solutions, consumer-oriented communication platforms.
  • Traditional IT-related sourcing.

Dell Computer Corp., of Round Rock, Texas, ranks No. 11 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
