Dan Chenok heads to IBM in June

Chenok to work in consulting and with government think tank

Dan Chenok is moving to IBM to work in its consulting branch to provide strategic advice on emerging technologies and cybersecurity, a company spokeswoman said today.

Chenok, who has been a senior vice president and general manager at Pragmatics since 2008, will begin at IBM in June, she said.

Chenok will work in IBM Global Business Services, leading consulting services for Public Sector Technology Strategy. His customers will include government, health care and education, she said.

In addition, Chenok will be a senior fellow at IBM’s Center for The Business of Government. He will be responsible for research in the areas of improving government technology and government management, she said.

Before joining the private sector, Chenok was the branch chief for information policy and technology in the Office of Management and Budget. Chenok and his staff had oversight of federal policies regarding electronic government, computer security, privacy and budgeting for IT. He left the government in 2003 to join SRA International.

In 2008, Chenok served on President Barack Obama’s transition team as the government group leader of the Technology, Innovation, and Government Reform Policy Committee and as a member of the OMB Agency Review Team. The team oversaw IT, information, and regulatory transition activities.

Chenok was a 2010 Federal 100 winner for his work on the presidential transition and being a driving force behind the open-government agenda.
