Kratos gains new $49m award at Naval Surface Warfare Center

West Coast company will continue providing range support services at Dahlgren, Va.

Kratos Defense and Security Solutions Inc. has won a five-year, $49.9 million contract to continue providing range support services at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Dahlgren, Va.

The contract calls for the San Diego information technology and public safety solutions contractor to provide technical services in designing, developing, coordinating and executing test and evaluation programs, according to a company announcement made today.

The programs include performance, characterization, lethality, vulnerability, integration, and hazardous and safety assessments to evaluate the suitability of explosive and non-explosive components and weapons systems.

In addition, Kratos will provide support in the areas of weapons evaluation, explosive and test range facilities management, test engineering and instrumentation, explosive test facility and equipment maintenance, grounding and bonding, and lightning protection and warning.

The Kratos team also will assist with environmental site remediation, impact statements, training and inspections, the announcement said.

These requirements grew substantially during the past five years, warranting a separate range support contract with the Engagement Systems Division of the Engagement Systems Department at Dahlgren, the announcement said.
