Verizon adds new feature to Networx contract
LAN management for voice over IP service expands offerings
The General Services Administration awarded a contract modification to Verizon Business for LAN management, a new feature of the IP telephony service on GSA’s Networx Enterprise contract.
It makes available to agencies a turnkey solution that expands Voice over IP to the desktop through on-premises management of all necessary LAN networking hardware, the company said.
Available only to agencies that order the baseline IP telephony services, the management feature lets “Verizon Business implement, operate and manage dedicated LAN infrastructure in support of IP Telephony services, which provide a gateway from the IP phones to the public switched phone network,” a Verizon Federal spokeswoman said.
“By using managed services through Verizon Business, the agencies don’t have to manage the LAN,” she said, which “allows them to focus on other aspects of their missions.”
The service includes configuration management; moves, adds, changes and deletes; service alarms, fault management, and trouble isolation and resolution.
GSA said it will continue to evaluate proposals from other Networx enterprise contractors.
