Aquilent onboard to upgrade Transportation website

Contract calls for range of improvements to DOT.com

Aquilent Inc. will support the Transportation Department’s main Web site with a comprehensive set of Web and content management system solutions. The four-year contract is valued at more than $4 million.

The award specifically calls for Aquilent to assist DOT.com with Web design and development including requirements analysis, information architecture, usability testing, visual design and branding.

The Web-based solutions provider will use Microsoft SharePoint to help DOT.gov achieve new levels of efficiency and usability.

Aquilent also will provide overall Web strategy, including policies, brand usage, style guides, and document management.

In addition, the company will provide numerous CMS services including content validation, strategy, assessment, organizational change management, inventory, mapping, conversion, and workflow.

CMS-related activities help make information better organized and accessible, company officials said.

The Transportation contract will result in a variety of Internet and information exchange improvements, they added.
