CSC hires former Transportation CIO

Dan Mintz, a former chief information officer for the Transportation Department, has joined Computer Sciences Corp. as the chief technology officer for CSC’s civil and health services group.
Mintz served as Transportation CIO from 2006 to 2009 as a political appointee and worked at Sun Microsystems from 1995 to 2006.
At CSC, Mintz will report to Tom Anderson, president of the civil and health services group.
Mintz told Washington Technology that he has three areas to focus on.
One is to help tell CSC’s story in public forums. “Tom believes that CSC has historically been a quiet giant in the industry, much better at execution and implementation than in articulating the resulting story,” Mintz said.
Second, Mintz will work to integrate what he called “intellectual stovepipes” in CSC. “[Anderson] wanted someone who understood the business and technology needs of key CSC customers and was able to relate the resulting requirements to the various centers of excellence within CSC,” he said.
A third area of focus will be to identify disruptive trends and help prepare CSC's customers and CSC as an organization to take advantage of those trends, he said.
Mintz said he picked CSC as the next stop in his career in part because the company focuses on challenges that he is passionate about, including cybersecurity, cloud computing and social networking technologies.
