NTIA seeks info on broadband stimulus grants

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA)  will begin a planned series of meetings March 2 to discuss the broadband grant programs funded by the economic stimulus law, according to a notice in the Federal Register.

ARRA directed the NTIA to establish the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program to award, on a competitive basis, $4.7 billion in grants to accelerate and expand broadband deployment.

The Agriculture Department’s Rural Utilities Service will dispense the remaining $2.5 billion authorized in the stimulus package, the notice said.

The March 2 meeting will be at NTIA headquarters in Washington. Information about the grant programs will be available at www.ntia.doc.gov/broadbandgrants.
