FAA seeks support for organizational transformation

The Federal Aviation Administration wants contractor support for a sweeping initiative aimed at improving the effectiveness of its Air Traffic Organization.

In a sources sought notice issued Jan. 22, the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization needs assistance to improve the effectiveness of its administrative and business functions, as well as customer service.

The initiative is part of a large-scale cultural transformation being conducted by ATO’s Organizational Effectiveness Office, the notice states.

The mission of the office is to design and implement systems, processes, tools and evaluation procedures that will enhance organizational effectiveness. The office also consults with ATO leadership on management matters, executive development and team effectiveness.

ATO’s mission is to move commercial, private and military air traffic safely and efficiently. ATO employees 35,000 controllers, technicians, engineers and support personnel.

The FAA anticipates an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity fixed-price contract. Responses are due by Feb. 27.

"ATO’s mission is to move commercial, private and military air traffic safely and efficiently. ATO employees 35,000 controllers, technicians, engineers and support personnel." That funny. Wasn't it the mission of the FAA to do that before this additional layer of management called the ATO came about????
