NISC closes Edge Consulting purchase

National Interest Security Co. announced that it closed its acquisition of Edge Consulting Inc., the sixth acquisition it has completed since its formation in July.

The deal making continues for one the newest players in the government mergers and acquisitions game.

National Interest Security Co. of Fairfax, Va., announced that it closed its acquisition of Edge Consulting Inc., the sixth acquisition the company has completed since its formation in July.

NISC is controlled by D.C. Capital Partners, a private equity group, and was created as a platform for acquiring government contractors in the technology management consulting and information management areas. The company's 2007 acquisitions were named among the top 10 deals of the year in Washington Technology's Feb. 25 M&A special report.

With the acquisition of Edge Consulting of Centreville, Va., NISC is picking up more technology and management consulting services capabilities, including quantitative performance analysis, strategy, technology assessment and capability development. Most of the company's customers are in the intelligence and defense communities.

NISC also has acquired Athenyx Inc., Information Manufacturing Corp., the intelligence services division of GAITS, Omen Inc. and Technology and Management Services Inc.

"Like NISC's other companies, the people of Edge are working on the most important challenges to our nation," said Andrew Maner, NISC chief executive officer. "We are eager to put the combined capabilities and special culture of NISC to work for all our partners and clients."
