SGIS gains Navy C4ISR contract

SGIS, a small contractor based in San Diego, will provide technology support services under a new contract that could bring the company as much as $157.8 million over its nine-year span.

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Charleston awarded the contract in support of Naval Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) operations.

Under the contract, SGIS will provide services to support C4ISR systems equipment, including information technology, engineering, logistics, management and administrative requirements.

SGIS will also develop new tools and tactical displays for the Navy that will provide intelligence data necessary to help pre-empt threats to national security.

The majority of the work will be performed in Charleston, S.C., but some will take place in Norfolk, Va.

Earlier this year, SPAWAR Systems Center Charleston awarded SGIS an FBI prime contract for automated messaging services engineering, operations and support.

The company ranks No. 2 on Washington Technology's 2007 Fast 50 list of the fastest-growing small government contractors.
