Scitor bought by equity group

Scitor Corp., a 1,200-person, employee-owned company, has been acquired by a private equity group.

Leonard Green & Partners LLP of Los Angeles has bought the Herndon, Va., company for an undisclosed amount. Most of Scitor's employees have high-level government security clearances. The company provides engineering and management consulting services to defense and intelligence agencies.

Scitor officials could not be reached Wednesday afternoon.

Jefferies Quarterdeck represented Scitor on the deal. Its affiliate, Jefferies Finance helped arrange the financing for the transaction.
