NCI secures e-commerce task order

NCI Information Systems Inc. will provide a Web-based e-commerce solution for the Air Force under a Network-Centric Solutions task order.

The system will be part of AFWay II, an initiative expected to eventually replace the existing AFWay system. The work is worth about $2 million, the company said.

The Air Force will use the system for purchasing information technology. The company's responsibility includes providing measures to better enforce government rules and workflow requirements and integrate the financial management functions with existing AFWay system.

The new system also will support the Information Technology Commodity Council's strategic sourcing initiatives.

NCI of Reston, Va., ranks No. 96 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
