ACS connects with Texas call center deal

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. will provide call center services to electronic benefit transfer recipients in Texas through a five-year, $19.6 million contract. The contract includes five option years, ACS said.

Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will establish a fully integrated call center in San Antonio for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

The call center will handle benefits for more than 1 million residents who receive food stamp and financial support through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program.

ACS has 58,000 employees and had annual sales of $5.3 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 48 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors. The 2007 Top 100 list is due out May 14.
