SEWP V awards coming soon

NASA soon will be notifying the winners of the $10 billion SEWP V contract. Who's going to start off fiscal 2015 with a win?

Fiscal 2015 will get off to a great start for some companies as NASA plans to announce the winners of the SEWP V contract on the afternoon of Oct. 1.

The companies will be notified between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Oct. 1.

We’ll be tracking the NASA website for updates.

This is the fifth iteration of the very successful contract for IT hardware, software and related services, and it has a ceiling of $20 billion over 10 years.

NASA received 233 proposals for the contract for awards in five business categories including full-and-open, small business and service-disabled, veteran-owned. There also are technology categories such as computer-based systems, mass storage devices, server support devices and networking tools.

The winners of SEWP V will have big shoes to fill as SEWP IV has been used to the tune of over $13.1 billion in task orders since 2007, according to Deltek.

NASA has set a start date for SEWP V of Nov. 1, but with so much at stake and so many bidders, there will likely be some disappointed bidders, which means there will likely be some bid protests. That Nov. 1 date might be hard to make.

We’ll see.
