Two companies score contracts to support Air Force radar program

Two companies have won sole source contract to support the Air Force’s Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System Recapitalization (JSTARS Recap) program.

The winners are:

• Northrop Grumman - $70.3 million
• Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems - $60 million

The Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System provides an airborne, stand-off range, surveillance and target acquisition radar and command and control center.

Under the contracts, the companies will provide radar risk reduction and nonrecurring hardware and software engineering activities to ensure radars are scaled to meet JSTARS Recap Wide Area Surveillance requirements, the Defense Department said in a release.

Work will be performed in Baltimore, Md., and is expected to be completed in September 2017.
