Optio Labs taps new CEO

Optio Labs has found a new CEO in former KoolSpan Inc. and Acuity Mobile chief executive Gregg Smith.

As CEO, Smith will expand the company’s range of partnerships, from device manufacturers seeking innovative embedded security systems to organizations and wireless carriers aiming to enhance their ability to managing mission-critical data sharing, the company said in a release.

At KoolSpan, Smith led the company’s growth and helped the company become a global leader in Secure Voice and Text messaging encryption solutions. Before KoolSpan, he served as CEO at Acuity Mobile which was acquired by NAVTEQ, a division of Nokia, Optio said.

He has also held positions at TeleCommunication Systems Inc. and Aether Systems.
