MECTS Services wins $16.3M Navy contract for balloon surveillance

MECTS Services has won a $16.3 million contract to provide the Navy with logistics services and spare and repair parts to support a balloon surveillance system.

MECTS Services has won a $16.3 million contract to provide the Navy with logistics services and spare and repair parts.

The contract will support the Persistent Ground Surveillance System, a 75-foot-long balloon that can carry a payload of 150 pounds and detect threats, NAVAIR said on its website.

Work will be performed in Fairfax, Va., Afghanistan, Yuma, Ariz., China Lake, Calif., and Point Mugu, Calif., and is expected to be completed by March 2015.
