IBM launches slew of FedRAMP compliant data centers

In an effort to meet both FedRAMP and Federal Information Security Management Act requirements, IBM has launched Cloud Services data centers that are designed for the enterprise and to provide SoftLayer cloud infrastructure-as-a-service.

The data centers will have an initial capacity for 30,000 servers, IBM said in a release, sharing an isolated, robust private network with 2,000 gigabytes per second of connectivity.

The data centers, coupled with a number of other development programs, are IBM’s way of opening the market for a SoftLayer ecosystem to enable its partners to deliver over 100 applications and services such as security, desktop virtualization and geospatial services.

The first data center will open this month in Dallas, Texas, and a second will open in Ashburn, Va., later this year.
