Viasat wins $30.6M contract to produce bandwidth modem for Army

Viasat Inc. has won a $30.6 million contract to produce and support the Enhanced Bandwidth Efficient Modem.

Viasat Inc. has won a $30.6 million contract to produce and support the Enhanced Bandwidth Efficient Modem.

The EBEM modem enables high-speed satellite communications and uses the latest advanced modulation and coding technology to increase efficiency and throughput while also providing backwards interoperability with the majority of single channel per carrier modems, according to Viasat’s website.

The contract will also have Viasat providing the Army with post production software support and hardware maintenance repair services, the Defense Department said in a release.
