GDIT nabs $63M contract to modernize Army billing, collections system
General Dynamics Information Technology has won a $63 million task order to modernize the Army Medical Command's ability to identify and collect from other health insurance systems.
General Dynamics Information Technology has won a $63 million task order to modernize the Army’s Armed Forces Billing and Collection Utilization Solution, or ABACUS, which helps them collect from other health insurance systems.
This is the first task order awarded under the Army’s Area Processing Centers, Army Private Cloud contract, or APC2, which procures Army information capabilities like collecting, processing and storing information for warfighters.
The ABACUS system will enable the U.S. Army Medical Command, U.S. Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and the U.S. Air Force Medical Service to better identify, process and collect other health insurance, the company said in a release.
Under the contract, General Dynamics will build a system while also providing software-as-a-service using to generate medical claims, pharmacy claims, invoices and governmental billing forms.
The company said that it will also consolidate the tasks of three disparate systems while replacing the legacy systems.
ABACUS will be deployed at 136 military medical treatment facilities around the globe.
Work will be performed in Herndon, Va., and is expected to be completed by May 2019.
