Huntington Ingalls wins $7.7M submarine R&D modification

Huntington Ingalls has won a $7.7 million contract modification to provide research and development support for current and future submarine platforms.

Huntington Ingalls has won a $7.7 million contract modification to provide research and development support for current and future submarine platforms.

The Newport News, Va.-based company will study a range of factors in submarine technology including manufacturability, maintainability, acoustics, machinery systems and hydrodynamics, as well as focused work on Virginia- and Ohio-class technology.

Funds in the amount of $279,451 at the time of the modification award, and work is expected to be completed by January 2015.
