Lockheed's Hewson named chairman of board
Lockheed Martin's Marillyn Hewson will celebrate her first anniversary as CEO with the addition of another title in front of her name. The company's board has appointed her chairman of the board.
As her one-year anniversary approaches, Lockheed Martin president and CEO Marillyn Hewson has been named chairman of the board for the company. She takes on the added role on Jan. 1.
Robert Stevens, current executive chairman of the board, will step down from his position on Dec. 31, and will retire from Lockheed Martin in early 2014.
Hewson became Lockheed Martin president and CEO on Jan. 1, 2013. She was originally slated to be president and chief operating officer, but after a scandal involving then to-be CEO Christopher Kubasik, which resulted in Kubasik's resignation, Hewson was tapped to become CEO as well.
At that time, Bob Stevens entered the role of executive chairman with plans to pass the torch over to Hewson in a year's time.
“As CEO, Marillyn has taken decisive actions to maintain our industry leadership by building a strong leadership team, shaping the portfolio and aligning the operations around the realities of this challenging market and the opportunities of the future,” said Bob Stevens.
