Three win contracts to service distribution system low volume terminals

Three contractors have won contracts with the U.S. Navy to support the Multifunctional Information Distribution System Low Volume Terminals.

Three contractors have won contracts with the U.S. Navy to support the Multifunctional Information Distribution System Low Volume Terminals.

The winners and contract values are:

  • BAE Systems -- $48 million
  • ViaSat -- $39.2 million
  • Data Link Solutions -- $32.3 million

ViaSat and Data Link Solutions won a similar contract in early August. Under this contract, the two contractors will upgrade the MIDS-LVT with Block Upgrade 2 development and retrofits.

Work will be performed in Carlsbad, Calif., Wayne, N.J., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2016. Funding in the amount of $1.3 million is obligated to ViaSat at the time of the award. Data Link Solutions will get $1.5 million at the time of the award. All funding will expire at the end of fiscal 2014.

Under BAE’s contract, the company will provide systems engineering and integration of the Multifunctional Information Distribution System Low Volume Terminals.

Work will be performed in Wayne, N.J., and is expected to be completed by March 2017. Funding in the amount of $1.7 million is obligated at the time of the award, and will expire at the end of fiscal 2014.
