Hydroid wins $36M contract for unmanned underwater vehicles

Hydroid Inc. has won a contract with the Navy to provide it with unmanned underwater vehicles.

Hydroid Inc. has won a $36.3 million contract to provide the Navy with unmanned underwater vehicles.

The unmanned underwater vehicles provide the military force with very shallow water and shallow water mine countermeasures, as well as underwater object localization tools, the Defense Department said.

Work will be performed in Pocasset, Mass., and is expected to be completed by September 2018.

Funding in the amount of $862,000 is obligated at the time of the award, and will expire at the end of fiscal 2013.
