Lockheed wins another Aegis contract
Lockheed Martin has won yet another Aegis combat system contract, this one worth $12.5 million, with the Navy to provide system engineering and technical services.
Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors continues its run of Aegis contract wins, this time captureing a $12.3 million modification engineering and technical services.
Aegis, which means shield in Greek, is a command and control system that uses computers and radars and other systems to track and guide defensive and offensive weapons.
Work under this modification will be performed in Moorestown, N.J., and is expected to be completed by June 2014.
Funding in the amount of $125,508 is obligated at the time of the award, and will not expire at the end of fiscal 2013.
Lockheed Martin last week won a similar Aegis contract.
