Small business wins $14.5M order to modernize data transfer systems

Physical Optics Corp. has won a contract to modernize the aircraft data transfer systems for the MH-60 and V-22 aircraft.

Physical Optics Corp. has won a $14.5 million delivery order with the U.S. Navy to upgrade 49 aircraft data transfer systems for the MH-60 and V-22 aircraft.

Under the contract, Physical Optics Corp. will develop hardware and software solutions for an advanced digital data military operating environment, and will replace the current data transfer systems.

The advanced data transfer system will increase mission effectiveness by providing situational awareness, reduce crew workload and enhanced capability for navigation and mission planning, the Defense Department said.

Work will be performed in Torrance, Calif., and Bloomington, Minn., and is expected to be completed in September 2015.

Funding in the full amount of the order is obligated at the time of the award, none of which will expire at the end of fiscal 2013.
